We know that movement is essential to learning. We know that kids that are physically active perform better at school. Making brain breaks fun and available are important. Adding a theme to brain breaks can make them go with any unit you teach or student’s enjoy! Stepping away from the screen and doing a brain break is also so important. Kids are looking at screens constantly. It’s great that there are screen based brain breaks as any movement is better than none, however these particular brain breaks focus on the much needed screen free movement.
Yoga
Yoga is great for strength, flexibility and sensory needs. Yoga doesn’t always have to be the same old thing. Adding a theme can make it easy to use as a brain break or combine with a unit. You don’t have to be a yogi to do yoga as a brain break. All of these themed ideas are simple, fun movements for students and their teachers!
